#BLOGTOURKBIS: Innovations from Thermador

Another brand I loved hearing more about while on BlogTour at KBIS a few weeks ago was Thermador. They celebrated 100 years in business last year, creating innovative kitchen products since 1916 including the first built-in wall oven in the 1930’s – who knew wall ovens have been around that long? Here’s what’s new for Thermador in 2017:

Culinary Preservation Center:

Thermador refreshed and expanded their line of Culinary Preservation Centers. What are those, you ask? They are columns for refrigeration, freezer and wine that can be mixed, matched and combined in various sizes. This makes it easy if you are trying to work within specific dimensions while designing a kitchen.

Shown above is their 24″ wine column which houses 99 bottles of wine – red, white and rosé all at the correct temperature. If you are a wine connoisseur, this should be at the top of your wish list, no? The columns have Open Door Assist which opens the door with a push so that no handles are required for a streamlined look. Click here to see a short video I took. I love these drawers (below) in the door which allow delicate produce like herbs to stay fresher longer.

2) Their Star-Sapphire® dishwasher has the fastest industry cycle at just 20 minutes. Perfect when you need to do a quick load before company comes over. Upgrades to the dishwasher include an Entertainer’s Drawer which is a shallow third rack to hold items such as pot lids. It also has a feature called Star Glow which gives you options for different lighting to illuminate the interior – very cool! And, a special wine glass caddy which can accommodate dozens of wine glasses. You can see a movie I took at KBIS here.

3) 60-Inch Pro Grand® Range:

Thermador’s 60″ (yes, that is double the standard 30″ ranges that most of us have) Pro Grand Range is perfect for the avid entertainer and is the largest combined oven capacity on the market. The 30-inch and 36-inch convection ovens can accommodate professional grade catering trays, more casserole dishes and bigger roasting pans.

Or you could do this configuration below with a 24″ griddle, which would come in handy when making pancakes for a large crowd. (I’m thinking of how long it takes me when Maya has her girlfriends over for a sleepover and I’m using my small electric griddle to make dozens of pancakes.)

They patented the Star Burner which allows for even heat flow:

4) Liberty Induction Cooktop

The new and improved Liberty Induction Cooktop has more space and flexibility to place larger cookware on the surface. It features 11 oval inductors divided into three cooking zones, with each zone accommodating pots and pans from 3″-11″ as well as teppanyaki grills that measure up to 16″. It also has very smart features such as MoveMode™ which allows you to easily move pots and pans around the surface by automatically transferring cooking settings to a new location. How innovative is that? The bevelled glass cooktop is also very easy to clean.
