Thanks for stopping by to see how I am faring with the renovation of my kitchen for the One Room Challenge. Three weeks from today, I will be revealing my new and improved kitchen which has been under construction for the past few weeks. See my previous updates here:
The kitchen above is inspiration as well – the cabinetry colour, the way it is styled and its overall charm. I’m hoping I can transform this brown beast into something similar.
You can also see that the previous owners had tile in the kitchen and laminate in the living/dining. To make a small space feel larger, it’s always best to have one flooring throughout the space.
Hardwood is also softer under foot than tile but you do have to be a bit more diligent with spills etc.
But the most exciting part for me had to be the installation of my Silestone Snowy Ibiza counter. I had only seen a 4″ x 4″ sample as this colour is fairly new to Canada and no one seemed to have a slab to look at. I always recommend to clients to see a slab if they can as it is difficult to tell from a tiny sample. It’s warm and I would say it’s more beige than grey. I absolutely love it. So go ahead and Pin this to your kitchen inspiration board. 🙂 You won’t regret it.
And then my Blanco sink and faucet were installed. The sink is a favourite that I had in my former home and recommend to clients. I know some people like having one large bowl but I have always been a “two bowl” girl. A dish rack always sits in the second bowl for all the items you have to wash by hand and it’s out of sight, not on the counter. What do you do if you only have one bowl? One of life’s mysteries (to me.)
And how pretty is the faucet?
And here’s a look at the design concept again:
It’s coming together nicely (famous last words) with the following yet to be done:
- install hood fan
- install backsplash
- install pendants and wall sconce
- install drapery
- paint counter stools
- create art (maybe)
- style it pretty
Everything is scheduled and the kitchen should be camera ready in just over two weeks!
Have a happy week!
